Pontcysyllte Aqueduct

The Pontcysyllte Aqueduct is a navigable aqueduct that carries the Llangollen Canal over the valley of the River Dee, between the villages of Trevor and Froncysyllte, in Wrexham in north east Wales. Completed in 1805, it is the longest and highest aqueduct in Britain, and is a Grade I Listed Building.

On a freezing cold morning I decided to take a trip to Llangollen. There were icicles hanging off the aqueduct in places.

Around the other side, after crossing the River Dee, I noticed these winding steps running alongside the great structure. I managed to setup my tripod amongst some spiky brambles to get in place to achieve this shot.
