\r\nThe sky was filled with fluffy clouds behind me and the sun was making its descent. I patiently waited for the sun to dip low enough to poke through a gap in the clouds and project its light on the castle ruins as well as the cliff face.
\r\n
\r\nThe gap was long enough for me to capture a long exposure of a few minutes in order to create a milky\/foggy effect on the water as well as a softening element to the clouds behind the castle.
\r\n
\r\nI got my shot and it was time to walk back to the car. The view of the last few minutes of sunset was the best i had seen. Many people were pointing there cameras right at the sun trying to capture the pinky orange colours reflecting off the clouds. \r\nI arrived about 30 minutes before sunrise and battled with the gloopy mud searching for the perfect view for my shot. The bright yellow lichen on this rickety old boat immediately caught my eye.

\r\nThis bright red sunrise only lasted about 5 minutes at the most and disappeared into a light pink. \r\nI positioned myself on a farmer's bridge that crosses the motorway. Facing the direction of Manchester Airport, I set my gear up in time to catch an aeroplane taking off. You can see the trail in the sky - it looks like a shooting star.
\r\n
\r\nWorkmen had just layed traffic cones to cut one lane off so I wanted to also capture the car lights reflecting off them too.
\r\n
\r\nI love the amount of detail and vibrant colour in this image that I was lucky enough to capture. There are indicator lights on the left, the traffic cones, the aeroplane trail, the blue and green lights from a passing lorry on the right hand side and the orange glow in the sky coming from the street lights of the next village.

\r\nI think this image shows how busy our motorways can be in England but also how interesting they can be made to look.
